Exactly halfway between Bath and Bristol lies the ancient South Gloucestershire village of Bitton, where the Romans forded the River Boyd and Jane Seymour's brother lived. And all around there are artists; some painters, some photographers - and a sculptor or two might well be lurking.
This page displays the work of one of these artists. It will remain unchanged until the end of July, when the work of another will be similarly featured. The previous artist was Al Deane.
Kate is a painter living and working in Bitton. She graduated in Theatre Design from The Nottingham College of Art following her foundation course in Chesterfield. She worked successfully for several years as a theatre designer at a number of leading theatres including The Swan Theatre Worcester, The University Theatre Newcastle, The Gateway Theatre Chester and the Grand Theatre Llandudno. She also designed and created props for the National Theatre, London and elsewhere. She then moved her focus to design and technology which she studied at The University of London Goldsmith's College where she qualified as a teacher in the subject.
In 1984 she moved from London to Bitton where she established herself as a painter. She has exhibited widely at galleries and private collections including Rooths Gallery Bradford-on-Avon, The Forum Bath, The Victoria Gallery Bath, The Temple gallery Vaux-sur-Mer and Manor Farm Gallery. She is also a founder member of The Five Friends group of artists. Kate is married, with three children, two cats, a dog and several chickens. You can contact Kate by
